One of the most common questions women ask when they’re thinking about becoming a surrogate is: “Will I have to pay for anything if something happens during the pregnancy?”
The short answer with Hello Baby Surrogacy is no.
When you become a surrogate with us, our goal is not only to keep you medically safe, but also financially protected. You are giving an incredible gift; you should not be carrying any financial risk because of it.
Top-Tier Health Insurance, Paid by the Intended Parents
For each surrogate, we carefully review her existing health insurance. If it does not properly cover a surrogacy pregnancy (or if it excludes surrogacy), we arrange new coverage designed specifically for your journey.
In many cases, that means enrolling you in a top-tier ACA (Affordable Care Act) plan or other high-quality maternity coverage. These plans are chosen because they:
-
Cover prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum care
-
Offer access to strong hospital networks and specialists
-
Help protect you in the event of pregnancy complications or unexpected emergencies
Most importantly:
👉 The insurance premiums are paid by the Intended Parents, not by you.
You will not be asked to pay your own monthly premiums for a pregnancy that you are carrying on behalf of someone else.
Deductibles, Copays & Out-of-Pocket Costs – Also Covered
Even with excellent insurance, there are usually additional costs:
-
Annual deductibles
-
Copays for office visits, tests, and prescriptions
-
Coinsurance or out-of-pocket maximums
With Hello Baby Surrogacy, those costs are not your responsibility.
We work with the Intended Parents, escrow providers, and insurance specialists so that:
-
The deductible for the policy is funded by the Intended Parents
-
Copays and coinsurance related to the surrogacy pregnancy are reimbursed by the Intended Parents
-
Any approved out-of-pocket medical expenses connected to the journey are covered
Our goal is that you can attend appointments, follow medical advice, and focus on a healthy pregnancy—without worrying whether you can afford a bill.
How We Protect You from Surprise Bills
Medical billing can be confusing and stressful. That’s why we don’t leave you to figure it out alone.
Our team:
-
Reviews your existing insurance to identify any exclusions
-
Coordinates with experienced insurance brokers who specialize in surrogacy coverage
-
Works with the Intended Parents to set up a medical escrow fund
-
Guides you on how to submit receipts and claim reimbursements
-
Helps you respond if a bill is sent to you by mistake
If you receive a bill that you don’t understand, you simply send it to us. We will help you review it and make sure it is properly handled through insurance and escrow whenever it is related to the surrogacy.
You Give the Gift – They Carry the Cost
Surrogacy is a major commitment of time, energy, and heart. You attend appointments, take medications, and carry a baby for nine months so that another family can finally hold their child.
In return, it is only fair that you are:
-
Fully covered medically
-
Compensated transparently
-
Protected from financial risk
At Hello Baby Surrogacy, we believe that no surrogate should be worried about medical bills. From ACA high-level plans to deductibles and copays, our structure is designed so that intended parents, not surrogates, carry the financial responsibility.
